It has been the state bird of the state of São Paulo since 1966. The national bird is the sabiá-laranjeira.

I don’t know much of why it was chosen, but in a country like Brazil which has the biggest number of bird species, it’s kinda difficult to chose one from.

The anthem is in place to honour the country and to pay tribute to the flag. It nests in hollows in termite mounds and feeds on seeds and fruits. Brazil’s National Bird is the Rufous-bellied thrush or the Sabiá-laranjeira in Portuguese. It was chosen for this position in 2003 because of the “popularity that it exerts in the Brazilian culture and folklore”. The yellow-faced parrot, or the yellow-faced amazon as it is sometimes referred to, can be spotted in the Cerrado region of Brazil, including the Emas National Park. It is an animal whose average size is around 23 centimeters, a size that is larger than that of a Benteveo and a Homer, which nevertheless resemble the national bird of Brazil (Thrush) in other qualities. Its common name is rufous-bellied thrush.
The National Anthem Like the flag, the National Anthem of Brazil is used at major sporting and political events, as well as at schools and other institutions. In some countries, official national birds are selected through legislative action or government appointments, while other countries have selected birds through popular votes, nominations or other means. Its population is in decline due to habitat loss. The name that is given in Argentina to this bird is Zorzal Colorado by the orange coloration of its chest.

Most species in the list are officially designated. It has been the national bird of Brazil since 2002. In other words, it was chosen because it features prominently in Brazilian literature, myths, and songs. National birds can change in several ways, often to better recognize a more appropriate species or to select a more unique symbolic bird that is not recognized in other countries. This is a list of national birds.
