The rich history of innovation continued in 2007 with the development of Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. George Eastman was an avid photographer who became the founder of the Eastman Kodak company. The Tradition Continues. The company was incorporated in 1901 as the successor to a business established in Rochester in 1880 by George Eastman… Given young George Eastman’s experience as a bank clerk, it’s not surprising Kodak created a variety of technologies to preserve, copy and manage documents. In 1889 the firm's name was changed to Eastman Company and in 1892 to Eastman Kodak Company of New York. Eastman was committed to bringing photography to the greatest number of people at the lowest possible price.

In 1883, Eastman announced the invention of a new kind of film that came in rolls. Eastman wanted to simplify photography to make it available to everyone, not just trained photographers.

Eastman Kodak Company, American manufacturer of film and photographic supplies and provider of digital imaging services and products. One descendant of Kodak’s document technologies is the fastest commercial inkjet print engine in today’s printing industry. The following year, Eastman Chemical Company spun off from Eastman Kodak and became an independent corporation.
