SANUR written by Snookystraveltips. You can get some great villas in Seminyak or you could try one of the beach front resorts in Legian like Padma where there is a range of restaurant along the beach and your basic, cheap shopping at the entry of the resort.. Nusa Dua is very quiet, not much shopping and generally more expensive. I'd split my time between somewhere like Sanur (for activities) and Seminyak (for eating and shopping).

Sanur is more relaxed and has everything you want without the crowds and traffic, the beach is also nicer. Snorkelling is not possible in Seminyak, a few people snorkel in Sanur but not the 'best' place to snorkel yet still possible. Restaurants, cafes and massages are the same, maybe cheaper if anything. Yes I'm an x-Seminyak now Sanur convert. There is a huge difference. Gopals, Zulu, Malaika Secret Moshka and Currry in Bali feature vegetarian dishes while nearly every restaurant in Sanur has at lest 4 vegetarian options for meals. Sanur is a lot more chilled out and relaxed, again with a good choice of restaurants, some with live music (Sanur Beach Cafe, Mango, Cafe Batu Jimbar). Ubud is a 40 minute drive from Sanur. You will find many restaurants with local musicians, but they usually shut it down by 9 or 10pm. Hotels tend to be more expensive generally than Sanur (there are exceptions). Sanur has everything Legian/Seminyak has plus the added bonus of a safe swimming beach, watersports and even snorkeling. Shopping is better around Seminyak. There is shopping to be had, from the beach market to Hardys Dept Store, although I think that Seminyak is better than Sanur for shopping. Rome2rio makes travelling from Seminyak to Sanur easy. Rome2rio is a door-to-door travel information and booking engine, helping you get to and from any location in the world. But as mentioned it depends what you want as Noodles mentioned. The beach is better in Sanur as I like a swimmer's beach not a surf beach. Sanur has less traffic and a walkable beach boardwalk with restaurants to choose from, although not as many choices as Seminyak. While playing on Facebook also join the page Bali Bali Bali or its sister page Sanur. Here is the description of Sanur that is part of the "top questions about bali" located on the right of this page under the heading "The Different Areas of Bali and What They Offer". In my opinion, then yes Seminyak is fairly urban and built up, with terrible traffic, and Viagra and timeshare touts a plenty On the positive there are some great restaurants, and the beach is nice enough. Day trip as advised over to Nusa Lembongan or if you want good snorkelling have a few days elsewhere in conjunction with Sanur. Hi Any and welcome to the Bali forum. Supermarkets: Bintang vs Hardy's - Bintang is now better.
Both areas are different, if you like expensive boutique shopping and expensive food and beach clubs, Seminyak is for you. Find all the transport options for your trip from Seminyak to Sanur right here. The beach path - 5 kms long - is an added bonus. That will give you up to date photos and comments.
