Being stuck in a platonic relationship, and having to deal with your advances being shot down or ignored, time after time, can lead you to doubt your ability to satisfy or please your spouse. And, we all long for emotional closeness, for intimacy and relationships go hand in hand. In a relationship, this intimacy is much more than sex. Couples must build their own form of long-term intimacy that allows them to feel loved, valued, and understood. It’s’s closeness in terms of love and understanding. It's hard to find time to strengthen love when we're running to work, scouts, business meetings, soccer, piano lessons, and family and community events. Or, at least, things that you don’t do very often. So, take as many opportunities as you can to break with your routine and do things that are new and different. Emotional intimacy may be a deep and solemn aspect in your relationship, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t build them through the most mundane and simplest things you do as a couple. This closeness keeps their bond strong and allows the relationship to keep moving forward. In fact, just spending the day together, doing day-to-day things while having fun is a quick and sure way to make them feel emotionally bonded with you.

Without a doubt, if there is no intimacy in marriage from husband or wife, it can take a toll on your self-esteem. There’s a connection between two people because of how they feel about each other. The closer the couple are in ways other than sex, the more rewarding their sex life often becomes. Intimacy and sex are not the same thing, but they are closely connected. Emotional intimacy is the same, but without the physical body.

When intimacy is lacking in a relationship, some problems develop sooner or later since that intimate bond is breaking off little by little.

In terms of a relationship, you might not even realize that the emotional and physical intimacy has dwindled.

Intimacy is closeness between people in personal relationships.

Sex is only one part of intimacy.

Intimacy in the marriage or partner relationship can seem to suffer when our families are at their busiest, whether it's just the two of you or you're chauffeuring kids around all over town.

If you never thought that intimacy was important in your relationship, please reconsider as it provides a great support in keeping the spark alive.
