The BBC Radio 4 UK Theme is an orchestral arrangement of traditional British and Irish airs compiled by Fritz Spiegl and arranged by Manfred Arlan.

Three have been used, with the last ending in 1997 in the aftermath of the death of Princess Diana. The piece was played at 5:30am when Radio 4 began broadcasting, taking over from the BBC World Service which provides overnight programming on Radio 4's frequencies. The piece was used as the signature theme to introduce the daily beginning of Radio 4's broadcasting following the early morning handover from the BBC World Service.
The campaign’s specially commissioned CD single of the 'Radio 4 UK Theme' plus 'Sailing By' was recorded on Friday 17th February by a Grammy Award-winning production team at Henry Wood Hall, London – performed by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia under Gavin Sutherland.
